Meet Robbie, Miss B and Thelma

Meet Robbie, Miss B and Thelma (ages 82, 80, and 78 respectively). Seven years ago, these ladies met in Joanie's water exercise class... and have been friends ever since!

Robbie, a cancer survivor, learned to swim at the age of 76. She attributes her ability to keep going because of the Y and instructor Joanie! Robbie is a minister and teaches Sunday school at True Vine Church where her son is a minister.

Miss B has been coming to the Y for 20 years. She usually swims, but occasionally uses the Nu-Step machine in the fitness center. Miss B loves the Y, the people, employees and friendships she has made.

Thelma has been coming to Mid-County for 7 years after falling on her shoulder. She can now raise both arms up in the air. She enjoys her Aquacise classes as well as Gail’s Silver Sneakers Classic class.

Together, these ladies attend Senior Luncheons at Trinity Mt. Caramel Church. They sing, eat, have fellowship and a lot of fun. Thelma’s motto is that “God don’t give us but one day”. Robbie believes in putting yourself first. Miss B said the friends she has made are her guardian angels.

After class, Robbie, Miss B and Thelma sit in the lobby to enjoy “the best coffee in town” and share some crackers.
