🏇 Guided Trail Rides
Explore the beautiful Trout Lodge and Sunnen Lake property along wooded trails and peaceful lake overlooks with our expert guides.
Bluff Trail Ride
This 3-hour ride will meander along trails and logging roads that lead to the bluffs and the gorgeous scenery that will unfold before you.
- Ages 10+. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied on the ride by an adult.
- Weight limit of 250 lbs. and must be at least 54” tall.
- No double riders and maximum of __ riders per ride.
Mountain Trail Ride
This two-mile mountain ride will take you up the Grainger diggings and down past the Hawkins’ Mines area.
- Ages 10+. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied on the ride by an adult.
- Weight limit of 250 lbs. and must be at least 54” tall.
- No double riders and maximum of 7 riders per ride.
Valley Trail Ride
A one-mile ride that takes you through the beautiful hardwood forest and across the Fourche Renault creek.
- Ages 7+. Children 7-9 must be accompanied on the ride by an adult.
- Weight limit of 250 lbs. and must be at least 44” tall.
- No double riders and maximum of 12 riders per ride.
Extended Trail Ride
This ride is perfect for our guests who have been riding with us in the past and who are looking for new trails to conquer.
- Ages 10+. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied on the ride by an adult.
- Weight limit of 250 lbs. and must be at least 54” tall.
- No double riders and maximum of __ riders per ride.
🎠 Just For Kids
Pony Rides
A great introduction to horseback riding for children who have never ridden or who are not old enough to ride on the trail rides.
- Ages 9 and younger.
- Weight limit of 150 lbs.
- No double riders.
Cupcake Cart Ride
For children who are too small or just not quite ready to ride on the trail ride, they can have their own special ride — a cart ride with Cupcake, Triangle Y Ranch’s miniature horse!
- Ages 12 and younger. Children must ride with a ranch staff member.
- Weight limit of 100 lbs.
- Must wear a helmet.

Wagon Rides
This is a fun 30-minute group wagon ride down our country roads flanked by the Fourche Renault Creek.
- All ages welcome! Children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Limit of 25 people per wagon. Lap riders are allowed.

Barn Dances
Grab your best western wear and come on down to the barn for a lesson in line dancing with our Triangle Y staff.

What to Know Before You Ride
Yes. Trail rides often fill up quickly, especially during weekends and holidays. We strongly recommend making a reservation at the start of your stay with us at the front desk.
Yes. Each ride has its own age, height, and weight guidelines. Please refer to the details under each ride type for the needed information.
Closed-toed shoes are required. Helmets and other equipment are provided at the ranch.
Absolutely! Our trail rides are guided and beginner-friendly. Our wranglers will walk you through safety and riding basics before heading out.
No. All rides are single-rider only for safety reasons.

Wyatt
Wyatt is a 16-year-old gelding (male horse) and has been at our ranch since 2017! He is a unique color called a grulla. With a strong personality, Wyatt tends to be a leader of our group and is friends with Apache, a black and white mare. Fun fact: he loves to roll around and play in the pasture during his time off.
DC
DC is a 19-year-old American Quarter horse, and has been at the YMCA Ranch since February of 2013. With a unique personality, DC likes ALL of the attention. Having many friends in the horse herd, he can often be found visiting each horse to see if they're up to play! DC is also the first to the hay every morning to eat. Fun fact: He has a brand on his hip of his name: "DC"
Hawk
Hawk has been at the Y since 2015, 10 years this year! One of our tallest horses, he would be what you consider a gentle giant at 17 hands tall. Hawk LOVES attention and is friends with everybody in the pasture. Fun Fact: Hawk has a blaze and 2 white socks. On a typical ranch day, Hawk can be seen taking riders on both our Valley and Mountain rides.
