Safety Around Water

You see a swim lesson. We see a life-saving skill.

A pool is more than a place to swim. It's where children learn life-saving water safety skills, gain confidence and develop the knowledge to be safer in and around water. At the Monroe County YMCA – HTC Center, these opportunities are helping children build skills that can last a lifetime.

Through the Go For Green program during summer camp, children gain experience in the water while developing greater confidence and awareness of water safety. The Y is also working to expand Safety Around Water opportunities throughout 2027, including exploring partnerships with local school districts to reach more children before age 10.

Every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe and confident around water.

With support from the community, the Y can continue making water safety education more accessible, helping more children and families gain the skills and confidence they need.
